Age & ID Policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026
NOCA Piercing Studio operates its own minimum age requirements to ensure that piercing services are provided safely, responsibly and with informed consent.

The minimum age is determined by the client's age on the date of the appointment.
Parental or guardian consent does not override the minimum age stated for a piercing.
For any piercing not listed above, please contact NOCA before booking to confirm the applicable minimum age.
2. Clients Under 16
Clients under the age of 16 must attend the appointment with a parent or legal guardian who has parental responsibility.
The parent or legal guardian must:
-
remain present for the appointment;
-
provide valid photo identification;
-
provide consent for the piercing; and
-
complete or sign the required consent documentation.
The client must also understand the piercing procedure and personally agree to the piercing.
A parent or guardian cannot override the client's refusal.
If the client changes their mind or withdraws consent at any point before or during the procedure, the piercing will stop immediately.
If one piercing in a pair has already been completed and the client withdraws consent before the second piercing, the second piercing will not be performed.
3. Clients Aged 16–17
Clients aged 16 or 17 must provide parental or legal guardian consent.
Consent must be provided either:
-
in person by the parent or legal guardian; or
-
in writing before the appointment, together with a clear copy of the parent or legal guardian's valid photo ID.
The client must also bring their own valid photo ID showing their date of birth.
The client must personally understand and consent to the procedure.
Parental consent does not allow a piercing to be performed below the minimum age stated in this policy.
4. Clients Aged 18+
Clients aged 18 or over can consent to their own piercing.
For all services restricted to 18+, valid photo ID must be presented at the appointment regardless of appearance.
If valid ID cannot be provided, the 18+ service will not be performed.
5. Accepted Photo ID
Accepted photo identification includes:
-
a valid passport;
-
a valid UK photocard driving licence or provisional driving licence;
-
a valid PASS-accredited proof-of-age card;
-
a valid government-issued national identity card displaying the holder's photograph and date of birth.
The document must:
-
be valid and unexpired;
-
clearly show the client's photograph;
-
clearly show the client's date of birth; and
-
belong to the person presenting it.
For younger clients who do not have their own photo ID, NOCA accepts appropriate proof of date of birth together with the attending parent or legal guardian's valid photo ID.
A full birth certificate can be used as supporting evidence of a child's date of birth and relationship to a parent. A birth certificate is not accepted as photo ID.
6. ID We Do Not Accept
The following are not accepted as primary proof of age:
-
student cards;
-
bank cards;
-
photographs or screenshots of the client's own ID;
-
social media profiles;
-
expired identification;
-
documents without a date of birth;
-
documents that cannot reasonably be verified.
For clients aged 16–17 using written parental consent, a clear copy of the parent or legal guardian's ID is accepted specifically for verifying that consent.
7. Proof of Parental Responsibility
Where a client is under 18, NOCA must be satisfied that consent has been provided by a person with parental responsibility or a legal guardian.
Where the relationship cannot be established from the information provided, supporting documentation is required before the piercing can proceed.
This can include a birth certificate, legal guardianship documentation or another appropriate official document.
8. Failure to Provide Required ID or Consent
Clients are responsible for checking the age and identification requirements before booking.
If the required ID, parental consent or supporting documentation is not provided at the appointment:
-
the piercing will not be performed;
-
the appointment will be cancelled;
-
the deposit will be non-refundable and non-transferable; and
-
a new deposit will be required to make another appointment.
This is treated in the same way as a same-day cancellation because the appointment time has been reserved specifically for the client.
9. Informed Consent
Every client must be capable of understanding:
-
what piercing is being performed;
-
the basic nature of the procedure;
-
the expected healing process;
-
the relevant risks and possible complications; and
-
the required aftercare.
NOCA will not perform a piercing where the client does not understand the procedure or is unable to provide informed consent.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time before or during the procedure.
10. Professional Assessment
Meeting the minimum age requirement does not guarantee that a particular piercing can be performed.
All piercings remain subject to an in-person anatomy and safety assessment.
NOCA will not perform a piercing where the piercer determines that the client's anatomy, health, development or another safety consideration makes the piercing unsuitable.
11. ID & Personal Data
Identification is checked only for legitimate age, identity and consent verification purposes.
NOCA does not routinely retain copies of a client's identification unless this is necessary for a specific consent or record-keeping purpose.
Where a copy of a parent or legal guardian's identification is submitted as part of written consent, it will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law.
12. Important Reminder
Please check the minimum age and ID requirements before making a booking.
No ID = No Piercing
Where parental consent is required:
No valid consent = No Piercing
